On March 14-15, 2025, a vascular surgery training course called SMART.ANGIO was held in Saint Petersburg. The course was designed to assist patients with vascular injuries and bleeding and was intended for non-vascular surgeons and general practitioners.
NeoCor sponsored the event and provided xenografts and surgical patches to support the course activities.
The training was conducted under the guidance of Professor Alexander Nikolaevich Petrov, Doctor of Medical Sciences (DSc), Associate Professor at the Department of Military Field Surgery at the S.M. Kirov Military Medical Academy; Viktor Alexandrovich Reva, Doctor of Medical Sciences (DSc), Associate Professor and Deputy Head of the same department; and Alexander Anatolyevich Pronchenko, Candidate of Medical Sciences (PhD), Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Surgical Care at Ramenskaya Hospital in the Moscow Region.
The program on the first day included hands-on practice with realistic simulators featuring artificial blood flow. Participants practiced various vascular suturing techniques, vessel patching using KemPeriplas-Neo, and bypass procedures utilizing KemAngioprotez xenografts and synthetic prostheses. The blood flow simulation allowed participants to assess the quality of their anastomoses in real-time.
On the second day, participants studied surgical approaches to major blood vessels in the human body using cadaveric material.
