From June 4 to 6, 2025, Moscow hosted the annual All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference "Cardiology on the March 2025" and the 65th session, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the National Medical Research Center for Cardiology named after Academician E.I. Chazov of the Ministry of Health of Russia. Olga Barbarash, Director of the Research Institute for Complex Issues of Cardiovascular Diseases in Kemerovo, Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences, and Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, delivered a lecture on the topic: "Modern Aspects of Managing patients with acquired heart defects. Is It a Problem Only for Surgeons?"
Olga presented a profound report on the current situation of acquired heart defects (AHD) in Russia and raised the issue of implementing organizational technologies that improve the accessibility and quality of medical care for patients with AHD.
A separate part of the report was devoted to methods of correcting AHD and their availability in the Russian Federation. Here, she also spoke about the evolution of the Kuzbass bioprosthetics school, from the creation of the first biological heart valve prosthesis in 1978 to serial production at NeoCor, which was established as a separate laboratory in 2002.
